Positioning of Your Celebrant Throughout the Wedding Ceremony

This very subject came up in conversation just yesterday, so it feels quite fitting and appropriate to share my thoughts now.
On my journey as a celebrant, I've been mindful of the fact that photographers will be capturing key moments during the ceremony. Understanding that couples don't necessarily want me in every single photo, I initially tried standing off to the side in the earlier days. However, this posed a challenge, as the couple often found it difficult to hear me clearly.
After reflecting on this, I made the decision to stand between the couple for much of the ceremony, so I can engage with them fully and be heard. I then step aside during those all-important moments—moments such as when they exchange vows, place rings on each other’s fingers, and, of course, share their first kiss.
While the celebrant plays an essential role in the ceremony, we don’t need to feature in every frame. I usually ask the photographer to capture a moment with the couple at the signing table, and that’s the only photo I specifically request to be part of.
