Christmas is fast approaching

With Christmas just under a month away, many people are getting ready for the big day, purchasing gifts and goodies for their family and friends in anticipation of celebrating together.

For many people though, Christmas can stir up some very raw emotions - particularly in those who have lost a loved one. This may be the very first christmas that a family spends without their father, mother, husband, wife, brother, sister, son or daughter or another important person in their lives. It can be hard to celebrate when all you really want is for that person to still be here in the physical sense. Even if it is not your first christmas, that doesn't make the grief any easier to cope with.

Be kind to yourself, and be at one with your grief. There is no need to be "strong" for others. If you need to cry, then cry. Talk about your loved one and the many wonderful memories that you have of the times you spent together. Seek the comfort of other family members and friends.

Most of all stay safe during this time - and remember that you are not alone in your grief.
